A little background for those few who read this and don't know me personally, I currently work at a top consulting firm doing a number of things that would take me a while to describe, and since I don't want to do that, lets just say its consulting shit. I've never been a big fan of Corporate America and my original plan after graduating from college was to work for 3 years and quit (full disclosure: I'm 2 years and 1 month into the 3 years). After which I would either go to grad school or start my own business (not doing consulting shit).

Well the events of the last couple of weeks has really got me thinking about accelerating that plan. I've really become disgusted with the office politics and other dumb shit that my job has led me to whitness. For the most part I have been able to stay out of the office politics game, but lately I find myself being surounded with this shit and having no choice but to do as J. Gatsby Sr. advised and "knock those punks back, let them know that this is your space and that anytime they think they can step in your breathing room, they'll meet with a swift elbow that'll let them know to back up". Those that know me, know that I keep my cool, think first, then act accordingly. I'm a pretty laid back guy, but I don't like it when people think that they can run over me because I'm "nice". So anyway, a situation came up where a co-worker oversteped their bounds and I had to put them in their place. And when I did, they want to get all defensive and try and play it off like I didn't peep their game and that I was just overreacting or taking things the wrong way. And thats where it really gets to me, I've already called you out on your game, just admit what you did, explain yourself and keep it moving. Don't try and convince me that your actions were oh so innocent and that you were only thinking of the team or my best interests when you tried to get me caught up. We're all adults, lets try and act like it.

So after what seems like a very long intro, lets get into the real subject of this post, The Greatest Job I'll Ever Have....

Back in undergrad, Blue New York, The Hitman, and myself all worked at a copyshop on campus (The Hitman worked in the one across campus but was a frequet visitor to the office in the business school where Blue NY and I worked at). Our job was to make copies for professors in the various schools. Running a copy center is pretty easy, you get the originals from the professors, make the copies, and give them back to the professors when they come back. There is nothing more to it. With such simple tasks, we found that we had a lot of free time on our hands. Time that was filled with countless hours of watching DVD's, playing Game Cube (I'm still the champ in Mario Cart, eventhough I'm currently down 2-1 to The Hitman), and discussing sports and world events.

Now you may think that I loved my job because we sat around on our asses and did nothing all day and got paid for it, but thats not the case. During those countless hours, we spent a huge amount of time breaking down and analyzing different business models, theorys, moves made by companies large and small, markets and all their inefficiencies. A lot of ideas came out of those sessions, ideas that the market has now proven were correct. Business wise, it was one of the most creative environments I have ever experienced (as opposed to my current job where at its most basic level, I get paid to think). So much that it was not uncommon for us to skip our classes that were litterally down the hall or one floor down because they couldn't offer us anything remotely near the value that we were getting from our discussions. That is why this was the greatest job I'll ever have...

Until Soul Rebel takes off.... Please believe that once my friends and I are at a point where we can support ourselves from our current grind... it gonna be a problem. Yall are not ready for the stuff we are going to think of and do. Consider yourself officially On Notice.

Recomended Reading:

10 Reasons You Should Never Get a Job

80% Of New Employees Fail Within the First 5 Years

Hackers and Painters: Big Ideas from the Computer Age

Ok I've spent enough time writing today, its back to the grind. I would see comercials for the show and would just be disgusted that this type of bullshit would even make it on the air (yeah I was a hater). But one random saturday, when I didn't have anything else to do, I actually sat and watched a couple of episodes. I have to say that I was thourghly impressed with his grind. He was real serious about trying to get on, and used all of his resources to help him. Even after being laughed out of numerous studios, conference rooms, dressing rooms, etc. He still persisted and was willing to show up to a Three Six Mafia concert in blackface in order to get a shot at performing. I don't like his music, but he keeps it real by staying true to himself and trying to
be funny. I respect his hustle, but I still think he's a joke.

With this next "artist", I don't know which is funnier, the fact he takes himself serious as a hip hop "artist" or that he thinks other people will. K-Fed, come on now lets be serious. Your Mr. Brittany Spears and that's THE only reason why you can even make it into this post at all. I don't care how much you try to convince the public that your gangsta or how tight your lyrics are, its not gonna work. You dress nice and push expensive whips because your wife paid for them, not cause you earned them. You can't get on in hip hop and be taken seriously if you don't put your time in first. You sir, are a joke....

And now for your viewing pleasure, videos form Jamie Kennedy and K-Fed:

Jamie Kennedy "Rollin wit Sagat"

K-Fed "Lose Control"

J. Ludacris - Release therapy
Ludacris is one of the few artist who's albums I can listen to straight through from beginning to end. "War with God" - Crazy, "Tell It Like It Is" - Crazy

2. Outkast - Idlewild
Outkast is the greatest hip hop duo out there, point blank period. They consistenly push the envelope in song concepts and delivery. Lyrically they're out of this world and if they were solo artist, would both rank in the top 10 for rappers.

3. Lupe Fiasco - Food & Liquor
Rhyme skills plus a unique perspective, enough said.

4. Saigon - The Greatest Story Never Told
Rhyme skills and Just Blaze production, always a good combination.

5. Joe Budden - The Growth
I've been waiting for this album for mad long, lets hope it doesn't get pushed back again.

6. Jay Z - Title TBD
President Carter couldn't stay away from the game for that long. Lets hope that he comes with it "Resonable Doubt" style rather than dropping another "Dynasty" on us.

J.
